What Is a Target Market Determination?
A Target Market Determination (TMD) is a document prepared by a product issuer that describes the class of consumers a financial product has been designed for, along with how the product should be distributed and reviewed. TMDs are required under the Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO) introduced by the Treasury Laws Amendment (Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Powers) Act 2019 (Cth), which commenced on 5 October 2021.

The lenders are the product issuers and are responsible for preparing and maintaining their own TMDs. We take reasonable steps to distribute products consistently with the relevant issuer's TMD.
